OREAS 661

OREAS 661 was prepared from a blend of copper-nickel-PGE bearing sulphide ores sourced from the Sudbury district, Ontario, Canada, and barren gabbronorite. Nickel sulphide ore from Leinster, Western Australia, and PGE ore from Dishaba, South Africa, were also added to achieve the desired grades.

Copper-nickel-PGE mineralisation in the Sudbury district is associated with the Sudbury Igneous Complex and its surrounding footwall rocks. The principal sulphide minerals are pyrrhotite, pentlandite and chalcopyrite.

OREAS 661 has been characterized using the following methods:

  • Major elements by oxidising fusion with XRF finish
  • Full ICP-OES and MS elemental suites by lithium borate or sodium peroxide fusion
  • Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by 4-acid (HNO3–HF–HClO4–HCl) digestion
  • Total S by Infrared combustion furnace
  • Au, Pt and Pd by lead collection fire assay with ICP-OES and ICP-MS

Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.

Note: Analyte values are indicative only and may change when certified.
